Great visit at South Effingham High School

The youth group from Colombes, France spent today at South Effingham High School. Each French person was matched with an American who is studying French, and they followed the American student all day through their regular classes.
They made many friends, and invited them to the youth rally this Wednesday night at First Baptist Church of Rincon. The French students were amazed at the open spaces and sports facilities, and the Americans were amazed at the French students and their amazement.
Rachel, one of the girls from France, was visiting a class and the teacher asked her to share what she does as a Christian. Rachel said that she made a commitment to be sexually pure until marriage. She said if she dated a boy, she would eat with him and joke with him, but she would not have sex until marriage, because she loves Jesus and wants to obey the Bible. The teacher said to the class, “Very good! You see, students, you can make this same choice if you wish.” Then the teacher continued teaching his class.

Good day of worship with visiting French youth group

Today, Sunday, October 23, the youth group from France lead in worship at First Baptist Church of Rincon. The youth sang and did drama in morning worship, and Pastor Thierry Auguste preached in French, with translation into English by Elodie Couratier Lockhart, one of our church members who is from France.
After church, we took them to a pizza restaurant in Rincon, and then they rested in their host homes in the afternoon.
Sunday night, Pastor Thierry preached again int he evening service, and then we observed the communion with our Hispanic Mission. Pastor Francisco Rodriguez, pastor of Rincon Hispanic Baptist Mission, had a problem with his bus breaking down, and we were afraid he would not arrive in time. However, Pastor Rodriguez arrived just in time, as we were about to celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Everybody applauded as he entered. Afterwards we had a good fellowship time with desserts.
Tomorrow the French youth will visit Effingham Christian School and Ebenezer Middle School.
